RELATED: Why the 2K23 WNBA Edition Matters for the Future

This makes selecting a team vitally important. Players will need just the right amount of help without getting in the way of others or having others get in the way of them. This kind of balance is tough to find in NBA 2K23, but there are a handful of teams that can turn this MyCareer dream into a reality.

Cleveland Cavaliers

The lowest-rated starting small forward is a 74 on the Spurs, but that team has four starters in the 70s and is a terrible place for small forwards. The next lowest is the 75 from Isaac Okoro on the Cavaliers. Players will get to start right away and they’ll be surrounded by success.

Every other player on the squad is at least an 84. Once unlocking the best playmaking badges, small forwards here can pass to any teammate and have them score. Their defense is great too, so small forwards can focus on their guy without needing to worry about everyone else. The Cavaliers are one position away from a title, players can fill this role with ease.

Minnesota Timberwolves

By the numbers, all the same reasons players would play on the Cavaliers are also valid for the Minnesota Timberwolves. The starting small forward is terrible and easy to replace while the rest of the team is strong. But there are some interesting facts behind the raw numbers.

Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the few bigs that can shoot the three-point ball (he won the contest last year). Newly acquired Rudy Gobert can handle defense on the interior almost by himself. This team could use a forward who can dunk the ball; grab some elite finishing badges to do the job.

Atlanta Hawks

Talk about spoiling for choice, here is yet a third team where the starting small forward is really bad while the rest of the team is pretty high. What the Hawks have that the previous two teams don’t is a 90+ rated player in Trae Young who is ready to dish out the rock.

This team has never been afraid to pass the ball and score with ease. They could use a defensive anchor who can help out both on the perimeter and inside the paint. With a few of the best defense and rebounding badges around, the player can easily take the Hawks to a championship in year one.

New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans, outside of the small forward spot, are in a great place to win now and win big. They might not have a bona fide superstar, but these are all players who are well above average and well-rounded. If they struggle with anything, it’s on the offensive end.

Feel free to express some personal creativity. Maybe consider adding a perimeter threat with a few incredible shooting badges to the mix. Or invest in playmaking and passing to get the team playing as the best versions of themselves.

Memphis Grizzlies

There are four teams that follow the rule of having below 80 small forwards with the rest of the team sitting at 80+. They’ve already been listed. So for a fifth option, gamers have to choose between challenging a great small forward for their job and waiting or playing on a team that has some significant holes.

The Grizzlies don’t make the choice very hard as Dillon Brooks is an 80; it will take some work to replace him but should be doable within a season. Once that happens, this team is ready to bring a title to Memphis. They could use an inside threat while young star Ja Morant handles business on the perimeter.

NBA 2K23 is available now for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
