But the biggest issue is that teams who are bad at point guard tend to have problems everywhere else. It’s like an NFL team with a bad quarterback. There are certainly easier positions to find a fit for, but for those who justifiably love the point guard spot, these are the best places to land in NBA 2K23.
San Antonio Spurs
Bad news first: the Spurs are the worst team in NBA 2K23 by the ratings. No player is above an 82. Even after players take over the starting role, there is still another 74 in Doug McDermott at small forward. It’s a mess in San Antonio right now.
So why even consider San Antonio? That part is easy; no starting point guard is lower than Tre Jones at a 74. The next lowest point guard for any team is a 77. Players who start their careers here will get to start faster than in any other location. That’s a big deal and that alone is reason enough to deal with a terrible squad. Get some great finishing badges to put 100% of the offense on the player.
Boston Celtics
The general rule of thumb when trying to find a team is to locate a starter that is less than 80 at the desired spot and the rest of the team is above 80. Unfortunately, no such team exists for point guards this year, so players have to choose between playing for a team with holes or playing as a backup for a while to get on a good team.

The Celtics are the opposite of the Spurs in that the team is great from top to bottom (including superstar Jayson Tatum, who has a 93), but players will need to overtake Marcus Smart and his relatively high 82. This could happen in a single season, but probably closer to the end. Grab some top-tier playmaking badges and it could happen sooner rather than later.
Los Angeles Clippers
For a while now, the Los Angeles Clippers have felt that they are only a great point guard and some good health away from a title. They lightly invested in John Wall, hoping he will be the answer for the one guard spot, but a player with better defense badges would be a better fit for the team.
There is still a serious issue with Ivica Zubac playing center, but this can be compensated for, especially with Kawhi Leonard and his 94 rating rocking out as a power forward. Toss in Paul George as a small forward and this is a team with forwards ready to carry the team, they just need the player in at point guard.
Washington Wizards
As mentioned, no team this year has a point guard below 80 with every other player above 80. There are two teams that have only one other player below 80 after the point guard is replaced. The first is the Los Angeles Clippers. The next is the Washington Wizards.

While the Clippers have a problem at center, the Wizards only have an issue at small forward, which can be more tolerable for a point guard. Get some amazing shooting badges and take a few more risks, know that Kristaps Porzingis will help out underneath the rim for any misses.
Los Angeles Lakers
Only two teams have two 90+ players on the squad. The Phoenix Suns are the first, but point guards can’t play there as Chris Paul is one of those 90s. The next is the Lakers, who actually are a fit after Russell Westbrook famously struggled there and, at times, seemed to lose his spot as a starter.
The drawback is that there are still two sub-80 players on the team to compensate for. But between LeBron James and Anthony Davis, players should feel confident in dishing to their incredible forwards and knowing they’ll take care of business.
NBA 2K23 is available now for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
