RELATED: Why the 2K23 WNBA Edition Matters for the Future
That makes choosing a team in NBA 2K23 a tall (pun intended) order. With so many tasks players are expected to perform, they need a team who makes this investment pay off. Only a select group of teams are worthy of this consideration.
Charlotte Hornets
Ideally, players should try to find a team with a center under 80 while the rest of the team is above 80. Unfortunately, no team fits the criteria and only three teams have a sub-80 center position with only a single other weak spot. The first of these is the Charlotte Hornets.
Mason Plumlee is the worst starting center in the game by rating, so overtaking him is a piece of cake to gain the starting role. P.J. Washington isn’t great at power forward either, but that can be a plus since gamers who love to invest in elite defense and rebounding badges will get the inside all to themselves.
Brooklyn Nets
Next, it’s the Brooklyn Nets who have a starter at center only one point off of the lowest starter at the position. After replacing Claxton, the only real issue is Seth Curry in at shooting guard, but bigs who love the popular build that utilizes top-tier shooting badges can help out on the perimeter.

The biggest selling points are Kyrie Irving (89) at point guard and Kevin Durant (96) at small forward. With a strong center, they’ll have a superstar at all three levels, giving the Nets a lineup that can easily compete for a title in the player’s first season.
Los Angeles Clippers
Finally, the third team with only one problem area beside the center is the Clippers, who have Ivica Zubac as their big man. John Wall is the other problem on the team, in at point guard, but he’s at least got some slashing and scoring ability.
To make the most of this team, do what the two-time MVP winner Nikola Jokic does by passing to the elite forwards from inside. With the best playmaking badges, centers for the Clippers can rack up lots of assists in addition to their usual rebounds and blocks.
Milwaukee Bucks
There is no getting around the fact that Wesley Matthews is the worst starter in the entire game over there at shooting guard. And Brook Lopez at an 80 will take an extra week or two to replace. But after getting over those issues, the Bucks have tremendous upside.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the highest-rated player in the game with a 97. This team is ready to win another championship with this squad if they can get some help scoring on the interior. With a few ideal finishing badges, centers can make the Bucks a team that dominates the interior.
Los Angeles Lakers
Some players will steer clear of the Los Angeles Lakers due to their sub-pat guards. But Thomas Bryant is a cinch to replace very quickly and, once that’s done, centers will be playing with the forward combo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
The Lakers are one of only two teams in the game that have two starters sitting at 90+. Being the third superstar for the team means total dominance inside. Stretch bigs will also be able to give the squad some much-needed help from the perimeter as well.
