Probably not, but it’s possible to field a solid team and still enjoy MyTeam without spending any extra cash. Playing this fantasy basketball simulator in NBA 2K22 can eat up newer players, but these tips should give even the rawest of rookies a significant boost.
9 Grab Some Locker Codes
Unlike many other sports franchises, the NBA 2K series has a really active and engaged community. They use this often, making events outside of the game itself that give in-game rewards. Scanning the player’s face is one example, giving out locker codes on social media is another.
Make a habit of checking their social media daily and searching online for Locker Codes. These are free VC and MyTeam perks, some of which are would take hours or weeks of game time to earn.
8 Play MyCareer
The two modes, MyCareer and MyTeam, both use Virtual Currency (VC) to improve. Players can use their best center build to rack up wins, complete quests, and knock out seasonal goals for Virtual Currency and then spend it on MyTeam.
Use the one to feed the other. A bare minimum player with no upgrades at all that never get the starting job can still net a few thousand VC coins in an hour. With a few days of playing MyCareer, it’s possible to buy the most expensive pack in MyTeam.
7 Check-In Daily
As busy folks, it’s not going to be possible to make time to game every day. But checking in takes no time and costs nothing. Sometimes the prizes aren’t huge, but all it takes is one lucky pack to get one of the best point guards in the NBA.
Regardless of how small the bonuses might seem, they all up. The entire week is displayed on the page and when taken into account, these rewards would cost at least $10 every week. Thinking of a daily log-in as a free three bucks can put it into perspective.
6 Keep On Pace With Seasonal Prizes
Seasonal prizes have expirations and once they’re gone, they’re gone (unless somebody auctions off their earnings). Missing out on these top prizes will cause players to get further and further behind as the seasons progress.

Missing the first seasonal goal is close to a death knell. Future opponents will likely have these cards, badges, and upgrades. Yes, there will be new prizes, but having access to all seasonal prizes is a bigger advantage than it might seem.
5 Collect The New Currencies
Not everything is a simple VC buyout. Lots of prizes and upgrades are locked behind other forms of currency that can’t be purchased with real-life currency. That’s actually good news; it means that these are realistically achievable purchases for everyone.
Players stuck in a VC mindset will be great when it comes to auction house items and packs, but they will miss out on some of the best gear that comes only by turning in tokens and MyTeam (MT) coins. Prioritize these new currencies over VC.
The temptation is to make a team that has a certain identity. It sounds like fun to be a team that has built their entire identity based on shooting threes. But this fun ends pretty quickly when online opponents realize what is happening, change their defensive priorities with a single button, and then make it impossible to score.
Being able to change is the team to long-term success and that means being able to do everything reasonably well. Cards that can pass, shoot from anywhere, and play defense inside and out are invaluable, even if their OVR isn’t that high.
4 Playbooks: The First Big Investment
Every defense and defense has a weakness in MyTeam and it’s all about calling the right plays to counteract them. Most playbooks lack versatility and have a very limited overall number of plays to call. So far, these tips have been all about earning money, but now it’s time to buy.
Make a great top-tier playbook the first purchase in MyTeam. These playbooks take time to understand, so knowing all of the play calls early into the year will be important. Plus, unlike the player cards, the playbooks don’t get replaced by outright better playbooks as time goes on.
3 Backups Matter And Using Stamina
One common mistake is that players will get their starters in place and then slack on the rest of their team. Bluntly, it is better to have two or three good players rather than one superstar. The reason this is true all comes down to stamina.

Players with great players on the bench can use stamina constantly, running constantly, grabbing rebounds, back opponents down in the post, etc. Yes, this means the bench player will come in sooner, but both players can run around using maximum effort at every moment.
2 When To Grade
Don’t invest anything into any card unless it figures to be a staple in the lineup for a while. But once players get ten cards worthy of the lineup, grade all ten at the same time. This results in a quicker process and makes it so that the entire lineup generates MT while playing.
The caveat here is that the cards can’t be used for a while during grading. But still do ten at once right before leaving for work for the day and come back to a currency-making machine. If the cards are still being graded, play some single-player challenges while the process finishes, it’s worth it.
1 Don’t Forget About The Shoes
Shoes are a single menu in MyTeam, but they make as much of a difference as badges, playbooks, coaches, and many cards. A boost of even a couple of points to a certain skill can take a player from ridiculously fast to unstoppable.
Like the playbook, sneakers are a great item to invest in early because they’ll be great throughout the various seasons in NBA 2K22. It can take a bit of work early, but adding a boost to every player on the court is an edge that makes a difference in close games.
