The trailer shows of Williamson’s practice jersey, which can be seen with incredible detail, after which the camera pans down to his shorts and shoes, both of which look more realistic than ever. Using Zion Williamson for the trailer shows off the impressive attention to detail in the players. Williamson’s muscular build is spot on. and even the close up of his face looks just about real. The shot displays the incredible facial animations including eye movements and even slight lip movements. NBA 2K has used motion capture technology to make player movements and tendencies very specific. In previous 2K games, top players like Lebron James and Stephen Curry have every one of their signature movements captured with the technology, including their shots, dribbling, rituals, and celebrations. The teaser trailer for NBA 2K21 fully shows off the improved technology with Zion’s mannerisms. Hopefully, NBA 2K21 utilizes the technology and graphics to capture even more players’ unique movements than before.

The teaser trailer does only feature one player and not any team play, but it is expected that NBA 2K21 will improve gameplay, controls, and possibly customization. Not much is known about the game modes, but most likely 2K21 will include MyCareer, MyLeague, and MyTeam modes with slight or drastic changes. Many fans hope that microtransactions will be minimized and the game will focus more on improving the MyCareer neighborhood and game mechanics.

Another impressive aspect of the trailer is the smooth animation of all of Zion’s movements. His jump shot looks exactly like his actual release and the dribbling of the ball is fluid. The trailer also shows off his amazing dunking ability, which is presented at a few different angles, showing off the PS5’s graphic capabilities to the fullest. Even the audio, which is mostly just the faint sound of the crowd and the basketball hitting the hardwood, is truly impressive. When NBA 2K21 is released in Fall 2020, expect the experience to feel like the electricity of real NBA games with the impressive PS5 graphics.
