Publisher Take-Two Interactive announced last year that NBA 2K21 on next-gen consoles would cost $70 rather than the more common $60, and Take-Two was one of the first companies to stride confidently into the change. Though some in the gaming industry thought this would hurt NBA 2K21’s sales, it didn’t have a major impact, and the game has been a financial success for the company. Take-Two believes gamers are ready for $70 games, but it seems the company also wants to experiment with the mobile subscription market.

The Arcade Edition of NBA 2K21 contains several different modes for players. There are two different kinds of quick match modes called Arena and Blacktop, and each provide a different basketball experience. Arena is a 5-on-5 mode where players can pick teams from the current 2020-2021 NBA rosters. Blacktop mode is a more hectic version of Arena designed to mimic the feel of a rough and tumble casual game between players.
NBA 2K21 Arcade Edition also has online multiplayer and a MyCareer mode, and gamers have different ways they can control players. Mobile phone users can use touch controls, but with the right external hardware they can also hook up an Xbox or DualShock controller and play that way. Apple Arcade subscribers can play NBA 2K21 Arcade Edition on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers.
Besides NBA 2K21 Arcade Edition, Apple Arcade subscribers have access to over 180 other games, including The Pathless, Don’t Starve Pocket Edition, and the diorama adventure RPG Fantasian that just launched today. The most recent update for Apple Arcade added 30 new games to the service, so subscribers should go check out the list and see what’s there.
NBA 2K21 Arcade Edition is available now for Apple Arcade subscribers on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, and Mac Computers.
