Adding to The Elder Scrolls overload, today we have a full map of the province of Skyrim, scanned from the map that comes with the game, a tradition for all of the games in the series.
At the Igromir video game event in Moscow, Bethesda handed out these maps to interested attendees and the Russian Elder Scrolls website posted a large scan of it.
The map pinpoints the location of key geographical landmarks and the towns, but little more than that. If looking for caves, sunken ship and other areas to explore, you’ll have to do that on your own.
One of the best aspects of each Elder Scrolls game is the opportunity for players to go off course, and explore any area they see fit. That exploration is what made The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind so special, but some fans thought was slightly lacking in its sequel, Oblivion. With over 150 entirely unique dungeons crafted for Skyrim, we can only hope that the sense of discovery returns in full for the next game.
Hard to find places with unique and rare treasures is something I’ll be searching out before following the game’s main quest and it’s that freedom of how to play the game, where to go, what to do and what sort of character to build that makes the open-world sandbox of each Elder Scrolls game so special.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim releases November 11, 2011 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. What type of character will you aim to play as?
